Our priority is to have a hands-on, principal-level interaction with our clients each and every time to ensure value and understanding. We bring other specific expertise or support onto the project, as needed. Exceeding our client's needs and expectations is always our priority, all the while maintaining the most streamlined and efficient team structure feasible.
Lakey has established a distinct niche in economic and community development by successfully distilling the complexities of economics and real estate development into practical, easy to understand repositioning strategies.
In a field characterized by spreadsheets and graphs, Lakey translates this information into innovative and implementable solutions and tools. Lakey works with public sector clients and private sector clients, from public policy to actual physical developments. This range in projects allows Lakey to create relevant and feasible strategies.
She has managed strategy development processes that included: economic analyses, market analyses, competitive assessments, business climate studies, target industry studies, workforce development assessments, financing strategies, implementation frameworks, action plans, and community involvement. Lakey makes it a priority to use a holistic approach that incorporates a strategic cross-section of stakeholders in every project process.
With over 15 years of experience, Lakey has worked on economic development- and planning-related projects in urban, suburban, and rural communities throughout the Southeast. She has done an extensive amount of work in the metro Atlanta region, as well as in the states of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and West Virginia. She has worked in the public, non-profit, and private sectors during her career, providing her with a distinct perspective on how effective economic and community development really gets done.
Lakey is a Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) with the International Economic Development Council, as well as a Certified Planner (AICP) with the American Institute of Certified Planners.
Lakey earned her Masters of City Planning from Georgia Tech, with a dual specialization in both Economic Development and Land Development. She also obtained a graduate certificate in Real Estate from Georgia State University’s MBA program. She received her Bachelor of Science in Urban Studies from Georgia State University.
Lakey was co-founding principal with Market + Main for 11 years, and previously worked for Jordan, Jones, & Goulding, Market Street Services, Central Atlanta Progress, Centennial Olympic Park Authority (COPA), and Atlanta Regional Commission.
